WELCOME to the Academy WebQuarters
Book YOUR Academy Weekend now (weekends all year!) so that you and your group can learn how to literally light your campfire by rubbing sticks together (no kidding, see the PHOTOS). Or you can learn how to magically handle rope in the ways of a Knot Fu Master. Some groups book a weekend camp to learn how to flintknap arrrowheads from common stones and carve wildwood bows-n-arrows. We teach whole skill-sets, and often use a Merit Badge as the weekend theme. Imagine yourself learning how to explore the wilderness with the confidence of a pioneer or a pre-contact Native American. You choose the Academy skills that your group wants to learn. My programs are centered around real fun Outdoor Adventure, and the skills required to make it happen. It's reality boyhood.
And now it is your turn. Join us here at the Academy for good ol' injun scout training. Parents are encouraged to attend with the entire family.
Also available for 2007 is our Academy Tour Package. See the CAMP page for details on how my team of Instructors and I can come along on one of your local Troop/Pack or Youth Group campouts and do one of our spectacular Academy Programs just for you, ANY time of year.
Plus click on our 2007 Christmas Camp page. You are invited to join me and my Academy Staff at a very safe beach-town in Mexico with local Boy and Girl Scouts. The low cost of this camp is only $30/day, plus food and transportation (a luxury bus is less than $95.US from the US boarder). Click-it-out!
See our PHOTO page to find out what we do, and how fathers (or moms) and sons/daughters can experience real wild adventure at the Academy. You don't need to wait for your whole Boy Scout (or Girl Scout) Troop or Cub Scout Pack to attend. Individual Scouts and families are welcome to join our campouts as well.
The Academy was created because I travelled in thirty countries, lived alone with primitive tribes like in the African Kalahari, and returned to teach. Soon I will publish a Benography page on this website, and video clips of my skills from around the world.
I am also the invertor Knot Fu, an artful and much easier and systematic way to tie knots. And it's crazy fun too. Knot Fu the future of knot tying, and untying! See our PHOTO page for scouts pulling on square knots. They are attempting to UNtie the knot without touching it. Go figure that one out!
Besides my Academy Weekends here in the Yosemite mountains and tours to Troops and groups across California, I am a Naturalist for Merced County Office of Education. I work at the Yosemite 6th-Grade Camp at Green Meadows Outdoor School, most Mondays thru Fridays during the school year. I teach over 3000 (yes three thousand) boys and girls every year, out in the woods! This is my 8th year working for the public school system.
Plus I have 30 years of Summer Camp experience. I was the Scoutcraft Director at BSA Camp Chawanakee in 2002 and at BSA Camp Winton for three years as a teenager, plus very many other camps inbetween. But we are not affiliated with the BSA.
Now it is your turn to join the fun.
“I welcome you to the Academy. Your mission here is to seek excellence, to go beyond imagination, to seek out a fully spectacular boyhood so to achieve steadfast manhood.” -- Ben Walker
